Situation Analysis

A significant challenge for government agencies, medical and veterinary professionals, the biotechnology industry and the scientific community is the cumbersome and protracted process of disease detection and diagnosis essential to timely clinical and tactical decision making. It is a complicated process typically conducted only by highly trained professionals in large laboratories.

Sample preparation adds to the cost, time, and complexity. Additional equipment to refrigerate, freeze, heat, store, separate, and otherwise process a sample is necessary with most lab based systems. All of the equipment requirements alone have tied the PCR process to a large laboratory. Until now.

DxNA recognizes that there is a need for a low throughput system that is not tied to a large laboratory, and that may be operated by someone with minimal training. As a result of that need, DxNA created the GeneSTAT System. Accurate. Simple. Portable. The integrated sample preparation is simple to operate, and is as portable as GeneSTAT itself.

Unique aspects of DxNA’s technology:

  • Speed: results within 60 minutes
  • Ease of use: RFID tag eliminates the need for highly-trained technicians
  • Portability: a lightweight device that can be powered through a wall outlet or car battery
  • Data accuracy: unique, closed system rendering valid, trusted data
  • More economical: less costly than current real-time PCR technologies

Drawbacks of DxNA’s competitors:

  • Commercial systems purported to be portable are actually too bulky for convenient transport. Samples still require labor-intensive, manual preparation. In contrast, this is fully automated with DxNA technology.
  • Considerable time is needed for getting reportable results
  • Higher device and test costs
  • Increased power demands
